About The Role

Days of Work: Monday – Friday, 0830–1730

As a Court & Tribunal Security Officer, you will play a key role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment within the Bath Magistrates Court.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing access control
  • Monitoring activity
  • Responding to incidents
  • Ensuring all visitors, staff, and service users are supported in a professional and respectful manner

This is a site-based role where you will collaborate with colleagues and the wider court service to deliver high standards of security and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

You will need to:

  • Provide a professional, welcoming, and customer-focused service to all court users
  • Control access to the building, adhering to all security procedures
  • Operate security equipment, including:
    • CCTV systems
    • X-ray machines
    • Handheld metal detectors
  • Conduct searches in accordance with site policies
  • Monitor public and restricted areas, with regular communication to control points
  • Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, security incidents, and safety concerns
  • Accurately record and report all incidents and activities
  • Support the safe and secure movement of people within the building
  • Maintain high standards of professionalism and compliance at all times

Requirements

Essential:

✔ Must have Right to Work in the UK ✔ Able to pass an enhanced DBS & BS7858 security clearance ✔ Valid SIA licence in place ✔ Relevant security experience ✔ Strong communication and customer service skills ✔ Professional, reliable, and detail-focused approach ✔ Good understanding of security procedures and health & safety practices ✔ Ability to remain calm and respond effectively under pressure

Desirable:

✔ Experience working in a public sector or regulated environment ✔ Familiarity with security systems (e.g., CCTV, screening equipment)
