Court & Tribunal Security Officer
Role: Court & Tribunal Security Officer (Poole Magistrates Court)
Hours & Location
- This is a Monday to Friday position working 09:00–17:00
- Location: Poole Magistrates Court (site-based)
About the Role
As a Court & Tribunal Security Officer, you will ensure a safe, secure, and welcoming working environment in a designated court or tribunal building. Your duties will include:
- Access control & security monitoring
- Incident response & professional customer support
- Maintaining compliance with security protocols
This is a site-based role, where you will collaborate closely with colleagues and the wider court service to deliver high standards of security, professionalism, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a professional, welcoming, and customer-focused service to all court users
- Control and secure building access, adhering to strict security procedures
- Operate security systems, including:
- CCTV monitoring
- X-ray machines
- Handheld metal detectors
- Conduct searches in line with site-specific procedures
- Monitor both public and restricted areas, maintaining regular communication with security control points
- Respond effectively to alarms, incidents, and security concerns
- Accurately record and report incidents and activities
- Support the safe movement of staff, visitors, and judicial personnel
- Maintain professional conduct and full compliance with security standards

Requirements
Essential
- Right to work in the UK
- Capable of passing an enhanced DBS and BS7858 security clearance check
- Must hold a valid SIA Licence
- Relevant security experience within the past 5 years (preferably within a regulated environment)
- Strong communication & customer service skills
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and professionally disciplined
- Thorough knowledge of security procedures and health & safety practices
- Ability to remain calm and assertive when dealing with challenging situations
Desirable
- Experience working in the public sector, government, or regulated environments
- Familiarity with CCTV, screening equipment, or security systems
