Court & Tribunal Security Officer – Chichester Crown Court
About the Role
This position is based at Chichester Crown Court, operating with a rotating Monday–Friday shift pattern:
- Week 1: 08:30–16:30
- Week 2: 08:30–17:00
- Week 3: 09:30–18:30
As a Court & Tribunal Security Officer, you will ensure a safe, secure, and welcoming environment by:
- Managing access control
- Monitoring activity and responding to incidents
- Providing a high-standard customer service to all visitors, staff, and service users
This site-based role involves collaboration with colleagues and the Courts & Tribunals Service to maintain strict security and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Providing a professional, welcoming, and customer-focused service
- Controlling building access and enforcing security procedures
- Operating CCTV, x-ray machines, and metal detectors
- Conducting identity/access searches in compliance with site protocols
- Monitoring public and restricted areas, communicating with control points
- Responding promptly and effectively to alarms, incidents, and security concerns
- Accurately recording and reporting incidents and activities
- Assisting with the safe movement of people within the building
- Maintaining high professional standards and full compliance

Requirements
Essential Criteria
- Right to Work in the UK
- Ability to pass an enhanced DBS check and BS7858 security clearance
- Valid SIA Licence with relevant security experience
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- A professional, reliable, and detail-oriented approach
- Sound understanding of security procedures and health & safety
- Ability to remain calm in challenging or crisis situations
Desirable
- Experience in public sector or regulated environments
- Familiarity with security systems (CCTV, screening equipment)
