Cover & GDPR Officer (Ratton School)
Cover & GDPR Manager Part-time, Term-time only (30 hours)
Hours of Work & Working Pattern
- 30 hours per week (Mon-Fri, 7:00AM–1:30PM with a 30-minute unpaid break daily)
- Term-time only – Salary is prorated

About the Role
Ratton School is seeking an experienced and proactive Cover & GDPR Manager to oversee daily and planned cover arrangements while ensuring compliance with UK GDPR and the school’s data protection policies.
You’ll play a pivotal role in:
- Managing staff cover, from timetable creation to supervisory oversight
- Coordinating supply teachers and overseeing their performance
- Serving as the school’s first point of contact for GDPR-related queries
- Handling Subject Access Requests (SARs)
- Supporting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs)
- Ensuring data access logs are up-to-date and transparent
Key Responsibilities
- Cover Management:
- Organise both planned and emergency cover arrangements
- Negotiate with supply agencies while maintaining school safeguarding policies
- Supervise Cover Supervisors, conduct performance reviews, and provide daily briefings
- Oversee staff deployment and uphold teaching standards in cover situations

GDPR Compliance:
- First point of contact for routine GDPR issues, escalating complex queries to senior management
- Maintain accurate records of data access, disclosures, and potential breaches

Additional Administrative Tasks:
- Manage school cover resources and related documentation
- Collaborate across departments to ensure smooth.data-handling protocols influence operations
Person Specification

Indispensable traits:
- Strong leadership and team-management skills
- Excellent organisational ability – juggling multiple stakeholders and deadlines
- Clear communication with staff, supply agencies, and students’ families
- Creative problem-solving in pressure situations

Ideal experience:
- Previous administrative or senior support roles, preferably in education
- Familiarity with UK GDPR policies and safeguarding frameworks

Commitment to Safeguarding is non-negotiable. A strict DBS check is required upon appointment.

Terms of Employment
- Salary: £20,118.83 gross per annum (pro-rated from SS7 Ā TH 18–19 band, pending pay award)
- Contract Type: Permanent, term-time only
- Entitlement: Holiday pay
