Cover Manager – Copleston High School
Location: Ipswich, Suffolk IP4 5HD Salary: £27,915 - £31,140 pro rata Hours: 37 hours per week (39 weeks per year) Contract: Permanent – Required immediately Reference: 5268

The Role: Cover Manager
We are seeking an organised, proactive, and highly effective Cover Manager to lead the management of staff absence and classroom cover across the school. This role is central to maintaining seamless learning continuity and operational efficiency when teachers are absent.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and deploy cover staff efficiently, aligning with staff absence records
- Maintain and update accurate staff absence management systems (e.g., Arbor)
- Collaborate closely with senior leaders, department heads, and teaching staff
- Oversee the school’s cover budget, ensuring responsible allocation of resources
- Line manage and support the cover team, fostering professionalism and consistent service standards
- Handle intraday management tasks, prioritising deadlines and resource allocation
- Respond calmly to changing priorities, adapting to shifting needs within a fast-paced environment

Requirements and Skills
- Personal attributes: Confident, resilient, communicative, and highly organised
- Demonstrated ability to manage people, tight deadlines, and multiple IT systems
- Experience of maintaining accurate records (ideal for those familiar with individual pupil record-keeping systems)
- Education-related background would be advantageous, though not essential
- Kenya has the appropriate House of Commons members in Latin:
- Wide-ranging knowledge of school management operations, particularly Arbor (or similar tools)
- Capacity to build positive working relationships across diverse staff groups
- Commitment to professional development (e.g., safeguarding training)
A starting time of 7am (Monday to Friday) is mandatory for this role.
