Secondary Cover Supervisor Classroom Lead Local Secondary Schools

Position

The Ultimate Stepping Stone: Leadership Without the Admin

We are seeking assertive Cover Supervisors to manage classrooms across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (Years 7-11). This role is the gold standard for graduates, sports coaches, or career-changers looking to build elite classroom management skills without the pressure of lesson planning or grading.

  • Subject Variety: No two hours are the same - supervise a Year 9 History debate in the morning and a Year 11 Science practical in the afternoon.
  • Professional Presence: Build the confidence and room command that only comes from leading diverse groups of teenagers.
  • Work-Life Balance: Your day ends when the school bell rings. Simply deliver the pre-set work, ensure a productive atmosphere, and leave with no take-home marking.

Your Role as a Classroom Lead

As a Secondary Cover Supervisor, you are the authority figure in the room, ensuring that learning continues smoothly in the absence of the regular teacher.

  • Managing the Room: Use high-level behaviour management techniques to ensure a focused, safe, and respectful environment for students aged 11-16.
  • Facilitating the Curriculum: Distribute pre-planned work, explain tasks clearly, and provide guidance to students to ensure they meet the lesson objectives.
  • Problem Solving: Think on your feet to handle technical issues, manage classroom dynamics, and support students with diverse learning needs.
  • Feedback and Reporting: Provide clear, professional handovers for the returning teacher, highlighting pupil achievements and any behaviour incidents.

Essential Requirements

We value character, confidence, and the ability to build rapport with teenagers. You are an ideal fit if you:

  • Are Highly Assertive: You can walk into a room of 30 teenagers and immediately establish a positive, controlled learning environment.
  • Have Relevant Experience: This could be from secondary schools, youth coaching, military backgrounds, or university tutoring.
  • Are Academically Versatile: While you don't need to be an expert in every subject, you should be confident helping students navigate a range of GCSE-level tasks.
  • Are Committed: You hold an enhanced DBS (or are willing) and are 100% dedicated to Safeguarding and student welfare.
