Cover Supervisor

Cover Supervisor – Handsworth Wood

Rate of Pay: £110 - £130 (Dependant on Experience) Location: Handsworth Wood


About the Role

As a Cover Supervisor within a primary school setting in Handsworth Wood, you will:

  • Support children with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) in accessing learning and reaching their full potential
  • Take full class responsibility during:
    • PPA (Planning, Preparation & Assessment) time
    • Teacher absence periods
  • Deliver pre-prepared lessons and activities under guidance
  • Manage classroom behaviour as per school policy
  • Maintain students on task and provide feedback to staff on lesson outcomes and pupil engagement
  • No lesson planning required (lessons are pre-prepared).

Job Requirements

To be successful, you must:

  • Have essential prior experience in:
    • Supporting children with SEND in schools or care settings
  • Hold a degree in education or an equivalent qualification
  • Demonstrate a:
    • Patient, nurturing, and empathetic approach
    • Strong ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Possess excellent communication skills for engagement with both:
    • Pupils
    • Staff
  • Adhere to safeguarding principles and methodologies, helping to:
    • Protect children’s welfare
  • Provide an:
    • Enhanced DBS check (on the update service), or confirm willingness to obtain it through Connex Education
