Job Purpose
To supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring that pupils remain engaged in pre-set work and that a positive learning environment is maintained. The role does not involve planning lessons but requires effective classroom management and the ability to support pupils’ learning across the primary age range (4–11).
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee classes during teacher absence, ensuring that pupils follow the work set and remain focused on their learning.
- Maintain high standards of behaviour in accordance with the school’s behaviour policy, creating a safe, respectful, and orderly classroom environment.
- Provide appropriate support to pupils by answering questions, clarifying instructions, and encouraging engagement with tasks.
- Complete registers accurately and promptly, reporting any absences, incidents, or concerns to relevant staff.
- Work flexibly across different year groups and subjects as required, adapting to the needs of the school.
- Uphold all safeguarding and child protection procedures, ensuring the wellbeing of pupils at all times, and contribute to the wider life of the school through duties such as break supervision, assemblies, and supporting transitions between activities.

Requirements
Essential
- Experience working with children or young people (school or similar setting)
- Good standard of education (GCSEs or equivalent, including English and Maths)
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to follow lesson plans and instructions confidently
- A flexible, reliable, and proactive approach
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities

Additional Information
Teaching Tomorrow is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
We offer payment via both Umbrella and PAYE Services.
Salary: 100 - 130 GBP Per day
