As a Long-Term Cover Supervisor, you will build a strong rapport with Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils, providing crucial leadership and academic support during a vital stage of their secondary education. Responsibilities

  • Oversee Key Stage 3 and 4 classes during the short-term absence of their usual subject teachers.
  • Present pre-set lesson materials with clarity, keeping students focused on their daily learning goals.
  • Foster a structured and encouraging learning environment that promotes respect and active participation.
  • Address classroom behavior consistently and fairly, applying the school's established behavior management policies.
  • Provide constructive support to students navigating their set tasks, ensuring they remain on track.
  • Gather all completed work at the conclusion of the lesson and ensure the space is left in good order.
  • Compile clear, accurate feedback for the returning class teacher regarding work completion and overall student conduct.
  • Move confidently between various departments across the school day, adjusting your supervisory style to different subjects.

Requirements

  • 6 months UK classroom experience is required.
  • A degree or a relevant educational qualification (highly advantageous, though practical youth-work experience is strongly valued).
  • Current DBS on the update service (or willingness for one through Randstad).
  • UK Right to Work (Share Code, Passport).
  • Previous experience working with children or young adults in an educational, coaching, youth work, or mentoring capacity.
  • A confident, approachable, and authoritative classroom presence to effectively manage groups of secondary-aged students.
  • Availability to commit to working 08:30 am to 15:30 pm.
