What You’ll Be Doing
Within SPM Licence programmes the High Voltage Test Centre team ensure company adherence to the required policy and procedures relating to testing of HV Fuse rods, Gloves & Sleeves and Live Line Trucks including electrical test equipment/instruments, and live line equipment.
Rigorous procedures are in place to ensure the safety of staff when working on or in proximity to the electrical network and the High voltage test centre team inspect, test and repair a range of safety-critical items of equipment required to work on the electrical network, including registration of equipment and management of test records for Live Line tools across all depot locations throughout the SPEN Group Licence areas.
- Responsible for delivering the safe provision of one or more of the following specific activities with strict adherence to the appropriate regulatory and license obligations for the electricity distribution network:
- Fuse Rod testing
- Potential Indicator testing
- Inspection of live line equipment
- Electrical test & inspection of Live Line Hands-On Working on equipment, associated truck & kit
- Maintain electronic records
- Generator lead/pod repairs
- Assist in Inspections across all depots within the SPEN Group Licence areas (with overnight stays)
- Deliver business plan outputs in line with financial, regulatory and business plan objectives whilst optimising return through incentive mechanisms.
- Ensure efficient and effective delivery of performance targets as appropriate
- To support continual performance improvement through analysis of outputs and feedback from internal and external sources.
- Demonstrate and promote exemplary safety behaviours and ensure that all safety legislation is implemented and delivered through all activities
- Capture feedback and issues from Operational Safety and Compliance Audits, Quality Audits etc and address any non-conformances.
- Deliver excellent customer service to all aspects of your operation. Actively promote and strive to achieve customer service standards within area of responsibility.
- Take responsibility and accountability for tasks and activities and contributes to the achievement of team goals by providing support, advice, encouragement, clear direction and coaching when appropriate.

Preferred Requirements
What you will bring
- City & Guilds ll, or equivalent electrical qualification
- Craft Apprenticeship or equivalent training
- Full valid driving licence
Preferred Experience & Skills
- Technical and operational experience in a relevant engineering role.
- Sound knowledge of Energy Networks policies, procedures and working practices.
- Sound knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation.
- Awareness of network development policies and procedures.
- Working knowledge of network and business data and network management systems.
- Contract & Service Level Agreement (SLA) management and general commercial & regulatory awareness.
- Ability to devise solutions to complex problems/challenges.
- Ability to communicate with customers and colleagues.
- Use of electrical test equipment.
