About Modo Energy

The energy transition is the biggest infrastructure buildout in human history. Modo Energy is the data platform at the centre of it.

We build the benchmarking, forecasting, and valuation tools that the world's most serious energy investors, developers, and operators depend on to make decisions. If a battery gets financed, built, or traded anywhere in the world, there's a good chance Modo data was in the room.

Founded in 2019, we're 80+ people across London, New York, Sydney, and Madrid; $30M Series B, AI-native, and moving fast.

This is a rare chance to join a category-defining company at the moment it's scaling globally.

At Modo Energy, we're building the global standard for benchmarking and valuing the world's electrification assets: batteries, solar, wind, and data centres. Our mission is to make the energy transition understandable, and we believe great design is core to that mission. We want complex information to feel simple, elegant, and a joy to use.

The Role

We're looking for a Designer to join our London team and work across both marketing and product design. This is a generalist role; one week you might be designing a landing page, the next you're designing UI for The Modo Energy Terminal platform or creating assets for a conference stand.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

We move fast and have strong product opinions; what we need is someone who can bring those to life beautifully, and over time help us raise the bar on craft and design thinking across the company.

You'll sit within the Product Operations team as an early designer hire, with direct cross-functional touch points across product and engineering. This is an entry to mid-level role with real room to grow: Modo is still early and the design function is being built, which means your work will have outsized impact from day one.

What We're Looking For

  • A portfolio that demonstrates exceptional visual taste: clean layout, typography, composition, and modern interface design
  • Strong Figma skills
  • Comfortable working across both marketing and product design
  • Fast, autonomous, and able to context-switch between different types of work
  • A genuine eye for detail and a high personal bar for quality
  • Enthusiasm for learning about energy and the world of BESS, solar, and wind - no prior knowledge needed

Nice to have

  • Experience designing data-rich interfaces or dashboards
  • Motion design or micro-interaction experience
