Creative Solutions Technologist
Location: Based – St Albans, AL1 2RE (Hybrid 50%) Employment Type: Permanent, Full Time

As a Creative Solutions Technologist, you will drive innovation by exploring new ingredients, technologies, and food trends, supporting the future of our products. Working within our R&D team, you will meld scientific knowledge with hands-on experimentation — translating groundbreaking ideas from concept to commercial reality.
Based at our Worksop site, you’ll collaborate with colleagues across R&D, Marketing, Technical, Purchasing, and external partners to unlock opportunities for some of the UK’s most beloved brands.

Key Responsibilities
- Explore emerging ingredient technologies, trends, and innovations, identifying opportunities to enhance our product portfolio.
- Apply food science expertise to recipe development and ingredient evaluation.
- Plan, execute, and analyse kitchen, pilot plant, and factory trials.
- Generate and interpret data to support business recommendations and technical decisions.
- Work closely with New Product Development (NPD) and Technical teams to integrate new ingredients.
- Develop strong supplier relationships, championing innovation in ingredient functionality.
- Stay ahead of nutrition, clean-label, and future food trends to identify integrates for Premier Foods brands.
- Collaborate with internal teams, research centres, universities, and innovation partners.
Requirements
- Degree-level qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related discipline.
- Passionate interest in food ingredients, innovation, and emerging market trends.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate findings into practical business solutions.
- Excellent organisational and project management abilities.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proactive, resilient, and adaptable to fast-paced environments.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software with a willingness to learn specialist tools. -Preferred: Previous experience in food manufacturing, technical, or operational settings (though not mandatory).
