Credit Control Assistant
PACKAGE & BENEFITS
- Salary: £30k (pro-rata)
- £13,714.29 for 16 hours
- £18,000 for 21 hours
- Location: Colchester
- Working Pattern: Office-based, ideally 3 days per week (part-time)
- Working Hours: 16–21 hours per week (days/hours to be agreed)

Role Summary
As the Credit Control Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business. You’ll focus on:
- Credit control.
- Bank reconciliations.
- Accounting support.
Your contributions will aid:
- Maintaining accurate financial records.
- Improving cash flow.
- Supporting the continued success of the expanding insurance brokerage.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor outstanding customer accounts, ensuring payments are collected in a timely and professional manner.
- Carry out regular bank reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.
- Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies efficiently.
- Maintain accurate customer account information and communicate confidently with clients regarding overdue balances.
- Process receipts, payments, and journal entries within the accounting system.
- Assist with month-end reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Support cash flow forecasting through the accurate recording of financial transactions.
- Work closely with internal colleagues to resolve account queries and discrepancies.
- Provide general accounting and administrative support to the wider finance team.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of finance processes as the business continues to grow.

Person Specification
Essential
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience within an accounts role, specifically involving:
- Credit Control.
- Bank Reconciliations.
- Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
- Confident and professional telephone manner, with the ability to build positive client relationships.
- Good working knowledge of:
- Microsoft Excel.
- Accounting software.
- Able to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
Desirable
- Experience using QuickBooks.
- Experience using Acturis.
- Previous experience within the:
- Insurance or Financial Services sector.
