At the National Trust, every penny of profit we make goes straight back into supporting our special places and the work we do. So, it’s crucial that we keep on top of our finances.
Our credit control team engages with a wide and diverse set of customers, bringing in around £400 million per annum to support the National Trust’s mission—connecting and inspiring people locally and nationally.
About the Role
Our Financial Services Centre is based in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, with:
- Onsite parking
- A nearby shopping outlet
- A 10-minute drive to the town centre
Your contractual location will be Epsom Court, but you’ll work from our Financial Services Centre in Trowbridge. While three days of office attendance per week is required, there’s flexibility in your remote working schedule after training.
Key Responsibilities
- Take primary responsibility for:
- Debt management and collections
- Credit risk assessment
- Contributing to the digitalisation of our credit control service
- Proactively pursue all outstanding accounts to ensure timely debt collection
- Work across commercial and residential accounts—your day-to-day work will be varied and engaging
- Engage directly with commercial partners, provide credit support to our Film Unit, and assess credit risk for new applications
- Support new account openings and Payment Line queries within the Credit Control Team
- Collaborate with colleagues to identify reasons for non-payment or withheld payments and propose resolutions

Who We’re Looking For
While you don’t need to have all the required knowledge, skills, and experience listed, we recommend reviewing the full role profile (attached). We’re looking for someone with:
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to:
- Engage with Finance and non-Finance staff (both internally and externally)
- Influence at all levels of the organisation
- Organisational and prioritisation skills to take accountability and be self-motivated
- Strong commercial awareness
- Numerical accuracy, with an attention to detail and ability to:
- Interpret and assimilate financial data
- Gather information, problem-solve, and make decisions
- Adaptability to meet multiple tight deadlines
