Credit Manager | Emerging Markets | London | £70,000 – £90,000

We are working exclusively with a specialist financial institution based in London, focused on mobilising private sector capital into infrastructure and economic development across emerging markets in Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. The organisation works with a broad range of counterparties - banks, sponsors, and multilaterals - deploying structured credit products that support investment in markets where private finance would otherwise not reach.

This is not a front-office role. It sits firmly in the credit function: you will own transactions end to end, challenge assumptions, present your recommendations directly to a credit committee and independent directors, and build expertise in a structured credit discipline that is niche, in high demand, and highly transferable.

The Role

As Credit Manager, you will take full ownership of your own portfolio of transactions from initial credit assessment through to close and ongoing monitoring. You will work alongside a dedicated analyst, engage with borrowers, lenders, and technical advisers during due diligence, and present directly to senior management and independent directors at credit committee. The deal flow is genuinely varied — two to three new countries per year and an evolving sector mix spanning infrastructure, energy, agriculture, financial institutions, and more.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead credit analysis and due diligence on proposed transactions in South and Southeast Asian emerging markets
  • Build and interrogate financial models; assess project bankability, cash flow resilience, downside scenarios, and key credit risks
  • Draft clear, well-reasoned credit papers and present your recommendations directly to the Credit Committee and independent directors
  • Structure facilities and negotiate key terms with counterparties, lenders, and legal counsel
  • Monitor the live portfolio: identify early warning signals, recommend remedial actions, manage amendments and waivers
  • Contribute to credit policy, risk frameworks, and the institution's expanding sector and geographic coverage

What We Are Looking For

Essential:

  • A confirmed second-line of defence background — you have assessed, challenged, and approved credit transactions rather than originated or structured them. Candidates from relationship management, origination, or deal teams will not be considered.
  • Demonstrable experience managing or analysing credit exposures in South or Southeast Asian emerging markets — India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, or comparable markets
  • Expertise in project finance, infrastructure debt, or structured / cash-flow-based finance credit analysis
  • Ability to construct, audit, and stress-test financial models and translate outputs into clear credit judgement
  • Confidence presenting to senior management and independent directors; strong written credit communication
