Job Title & Details
Title: Credit Officer Salary: £67,000 – £74,400 Location: Birmingham or Leeds Hours: Full-time Working Pattern: Hybrid (40% in-office or two days per week)
About the Role
The Mid Corporate Credit team collaborates closely with Coverage and Product teams to deliver responsible, sustainable credit risk solutions that drive growth for both customers and the group.
Our Mid Corporate customers are UK-based businesses with revenues ranging from £25m–£500m per annum. This segment is experiencing significant investment to support ambitious growth plans, making this a critical strategic focus for the Group.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your career across the Chief Credit Office and the wider Group. Key responsibilities include:
- Shaping credit processes, policies, and strategy
- Assessing customer creditworthiness
- Structuring and sanctioning transactions
- Monitoring and managing portfolio performance
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct independent credit assessments for sanctioning officials, including:
- Analysis of company financial documents
- Market due diligence
- Evaluation of key strengths and risks (e.g., new lending, increased facility requests, restructures, and annual reviews)
- Collaborate with originators, relationship managers, product partners, and clients to shape structured credit proposals, balancing risk and reward
- Monitor and control credit exposures, identifying risk changes and ensuring compliance with LBG policy and regulatory requirements
- Understand customer, sector, and market dynamics, applying sound judgment to assess lending proposals (including cash flow sensitivity analysis)
- Exerce a formal Credit Authority Delegation where applicable
- Maintain precise records for regulatory, legal, and reporting needs
- Align transactions with Group Policy, overseeing deal origination teams accordingly

Requirements
- Strong credit risk experience
- Knowledge of cash flow-based lending and financial analysis (essential)
- Experience preparing credit papers for senior sanctioning officials
- Developed communication and influencing skills – confident in challenging norms, making recommendations, and fostering influencing conversations
- Ability to balance conflicting priorities under tight deadlines
- Strong learning adaptive, and judgment-driven mindset
- Demonstrates attention to detail and collaborative decision-making
