About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen in Lloyds Banking Group for a Credit Officer to join the Securitisation Team, part of the broader Financial Institutions ("FI") Credit Risk department. The Credit Risk team plays a critical role in supporting business partners to achieve their strategic goals while managing credit risk and protecting the bank from losses.
As part of the FI Credit team, you’ll work closely with established and high-profile clients—insurance companies, banks, pension funds, and governments.
In this Credit Officer role, your focus will be on:
- Supporting the Securitised Products Group.
- Managing a portfolio of counterparties with tailored credit risk management.
- Providing insightful, high-quality analysis, advice, and guidance to senior stakeholders.
- Preparing and presenting new business submissions and annual credit reviews for sanctioning approvals.
- Leading client credit due diligence calls, shaping deal structures, and informing credit risk appetite.
At the core of this role is attention to detail, ensuring nothing slips through the cracks—whether it's modelling cash flows, conducting stress tests, or analysing scenarios. What sets this position apart, though, is the collaborative and growth-oriented culture of the Securitisation team. Here, every member matters, and with ambitious portfolio expansion plans ahead, there’s space to learn, develop, and take ownership.
Responsibilities
- Portfolio Management & Analysis:
- Manage assigned credit portfolios, including Financial Institutions and Large Corporates to mitigate and manage risk.
- Conduct due diligence on new and existing counterparties.
- Provide high-quality credit risk analysis, underpinning business decisions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
