Credit Underwriter – Crewe Office

The Role

We’re seeking passionate individuals to join our Crewe office, whether you’re at the beginning of your career or looking for your next challenge. Full training and study support (for CICM or AAT) will beprovided.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Tasks

  • Process new credit applications, gathering key information to enable sound, well-informed decision-making.
  • Drive performance to meet individual KPIs, including:
    • Ensuring final decisions are made within 1–2 days or lesser time.
    • Achieving daily decision targets.
    • Minimising pended applications in Credit Control.
  • Innovate processes and systems to improve risk mitigation, approval rates, or productivity.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders.

Departmental Integration

  • Collaborate across departments to share best practices and enhance workflows.
  • Participate in cross-team projects to improve departmental performance.
  • Expand knowledge through exposure to different credit functions and business products.

Team & Performance Management

  • Ensure credit underwriting standards are met and departmental SLAs are maintained.
  • Keep accurate and complete records of underwritten cases.
  • Escalate accounts/issues as required and manage Account Manager expectations to reduce escalations.
  • Support the Credit Department in mitigating bad debt through thorough risk assessment.

Requirements

  • Positive attitude and team orientation.
  • Strong communication skills for engaging with stakeholders across the business.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and focus on detail.
  • A flexible and proactive approach.
  • Prior experience in credit or risk management is desirable but not essential.
