Credit Portfolio Manager
Credit Portfolio Manager – Non Residential Lending
About the Role
We're looking for a Credit Portfolio Manager to join our Credit Risk function, specialising in our Non Residential lending lines.
Reporting directly to the Group Head of Credit Risk, you’ll form part of a small, specialist team responsible for maintaining strong oversight of credit risk across Commercial, Development Finance, Bridging, and Asset Finance portfolios.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with colleagues in OSBI to source and shape data and MI needed for effective portfolio oversight.
- Lead the development of credit risk capability and strengthen analytical skills across the team.
- Play a critical role in enhancing insight, improving processes, and supporting the evolution of our risk framework for high-value, specialist portfolios.
This role is based at our Wolverhampton office, with occasional travel to London and the South of the UK.
About the Team
Actively collaborate with stakeholders across Credit Risk, Underwriting, Product, Finance, and Strategy to maintain robust portfolio performance, providing clear reporting, constructive challenge, and actionable insight.
Key Responsibilities

Credit Portfolio Oversight
- Monitor portfolio performance across Commercial, Development Finance, Bridging, Asset Finance, and larger exposures.
- Analyse key credit risk indicators and identify emerging risks.

Deep-Dive Analysis & Risk Segmentation
- Conduct detailed reviews of specific segments, products, or cohorts to assess systemic risk drivers.
- Address deterioration trends and emerging idiosyncratic and sectoral risks.

Policy & Governance Support
- Assist in risk appetite oversight by reviewing limits and informing lending criteria adjustments.
- Escalate areas of concern to senior management.

Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement
- Produce high-quality, evidence-based reports for senior management, risk committees, and governance forums.
- Engage with Risk, Underwriting, Product, Legal, and Modelling teams to ensure strong risk discipline.

Stress Testing & Scenarios
- Contribute to stress testing, scenario analysis, and forecasting, analysing macroeconomic and credit risk exposure.

Risk Actions & Documentation
- Support the development of corrective actions when performance declines.
- Maintain rigorous governance through adherence to risk, data, and policy standards.

- Base salary: £60,000 – £70,000 (dependent on experience)

What Are We Looking For?
A talented individual with expertise and experience in:
- Strong commercial credit risk knowledge, specialising in real-estate-backed lending (Commercial, Semi-Commercial, Bridging, Development Finance, Asset Finance).
- Core credit risk drivers: debt service, LTV, liquidity, arrears, and loss performance.
- Advanced analytical skills, including:
- Proficiency in Excel.
- Trend identification and data extrapolation.
- Conversion of portfolio data into practical recommendations.
- Clear and influential communication: strong written and verbal skills to challenge stakeholders constructively.
- Robust risk and regulatory awareness, including:
- Understanding of MCOB frameworks.
- UK mortgage regulation compliance.
- High attention to detail and sound judgement for effective decision-making.
