Credit Risk Management – Fixed Income Division
Vice President, Secured Lending – Commercial Real Estate (London)
The role resides within Morgan Stanley’s Firm Risk Management’s Credit Risk Management area, a team focused on evaluating credit risk transactions. Key responsibilities include:
- Evaluating credit arrangements and risk mitigation strategies
- Assigning Internal Credit Ratings
- Establishing and managing credit risk limits based on board-approved risk tolerances
- Monitoring and reporting credit risk exposures regularly to the Chief Risk Officer and Firm Risk Management
- Collaborating with business units to integrate credit risk assessments into decision-making processes
This position involves assessing credit risk in Commercial Real Estate (CRE) lending, including but not limited to:
- Reviewing loan structures
- Evaluating pledged collateral
- Assessing risk mitigation strategies

Responsibilities
Key Duties
- Lead management and evaluation of CRE warehouse loan originations, renewals, amendments, and modifications while aligning with the firm’s risk appetite and business goals.
- Oversee monitoring of the existing loan portfolio, driving analysis and reporting on risk profiles, market trends, industry developments, and concentrations.
- Facilitate and lead stakeholder meetings, including but not limited to:
- External clients
- Firm credit committees
- Business unit discussions
- Coordinate the review of due diligence materials and actively participate in:
- Client diligence
- Site visits
- Assessment of appraisals/valuations
- Mentor and upskill junior team members through support, training, and professional development initiatives.

Requirements
Essential
- Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial real estate lending, with a bias toward credit risk experience.
- Strong knowledge of lending processes, transaction structures, and documentation (e.g., term sheets and facility agreements).
- Deep understanding of financial markets, financing instruments, related legal documentation, and lending structures.
- Familiarity with accounting/financial concepts and exposure to credit metrics.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, for engaging with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong analytical abilities, including financial analysis and modelling experience.
- Attention to detail, with an ability to provide clear, actionable insights (proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
- Fluency in English.
