Credit Risk Manager

Credit Risk Manager

Our client is looking for a Credit Risk Manager to support the Deputy Head of Risk in managing the Branch’s credit portfolio, including risk identification and post approval monitoring for the portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide independent, high-quality credit risk monitoring for corporate, financial institution, and sovereign counterparties, issuers, and clients
  • Monitor the health of the portfolio from both home office requirements and industry best practices
  • Ensure all credit facility parameters are recorded accurately in the Bank’s systems, coordinating with Risk Managers (RMs)
  • Conduct stage-wise monitoring of loan disbursements and associated compliance of terms & conditions/conditions precedent
  • Perform regular monitoring of financial covenants, monitoring conditions, and the timely review of ratings/ad-hoc reviews
  • Verify credit asset classifications align with Bank’s Asset Classification Policy
  • Ensure credit limit breaches/KPIs are reported according to policy
  • Assist Deputy Head of Risk in monitoring and controlling credit risks, maintaining appropriate risk management controls, policies, and procedures
  • Track market news and information indicating significant changes in credit risk, informing Deputy Head of Risk, Senior Management, and relevant Business Areas
  • Act as Secretary for the Branch Credit Committee
  • Provide advice and support to the Business Areas on credit-related matters
  • Maintain and update credit-related policies & procedures to ensure they are relevant
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • Risk Management & Compliance framework, including Conduct Risk Policy, Conflicts Management Policy, Anti-Bribery & Corruption Policy, and UK Staff Handbook
    • Tax Risk Policy, Legal Policy, BCM plans, IT Security Policy, and Data Protection Policy
  • Reporting and escalation of material risk events, conduct risk, conflicts of interest, or losses to the Deputy Head of Risk
  • Ensure completion of required training as prescribed by the Bank
  • Evaluate policy alignment with legal & regulatory requirements, identify improvement opportunities, and collaborate with First Line of Defence to implement changes
  • Undertake ad-hoc tasks assigned by the line manager

  • Degree-level education or equivalent with a relevant professional qualification
  • Strong experience in managing credit risks across all categories, including implementation of credit risk management frameworks
  • In-depth understanding of wholesale banking and treasury products, along with sources of credit risk
  • Good grasp of the UK regulatory framework
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills in English; Mandarin proficiency is advantageous
  • Strong teamwork skills, maintaining independence while collaborating closely with Business Areas
  • High accountability, initiative, and decision-making initiative
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving skills
