Credit Underwriter

  • Location: John Deere Financial, Langar
  • Working Arrangement: Hybrid (live within commuting distance of Langar)

About the Role

The Credit Underwriter will join a small, dynamic team, independently assessing moderately complex credit applications for asset finance proposals. They will apply company credit guidelines, policies, and procedures while supporting strong dealer and partner relationships, occasionally coaching junior colleagues. Occasional customer and dealer visits may be required.


Key Responsibilities

  • Credit Evaluation

    • Analyse and assess moderately complex, higher-value asset finance proposals, evaluating cash flow, balance sheets, and profitability through financial analyses.
  • Decision-Making

    • Approve, decline, or recommend action on finance proposals in alignment with company policies, procedures, and risk appetite.
  • Portfolio Management

    • Manage and review credit lines with local authority limits, including renewal processing, customer performance monitoring, and transaction authorisation within mandate.

  • Customer Communication

    • Conduct customer visits to clarify queries, understand business needs, and strengthen relationships.
  • Dealer Support

    • Promote asset finance products, systems, and initiatives to dealers.
    • Provide guidance to dealers/sales teams to improve proposal submission quality and structure.
  • Stakeholder Engagement

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with dealers, Area Sales Managers, and internal stakeholders via regular communication and in-person meetings.
  • Operational Assistance

    • Assist partners with financial documentation, query resolution, and occasional collections to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Team Development

    • Mentor and coach Junior Dealer Relationship Officers and internal staff to support growth and capability development.
  • Process & Project Involvement

    • Participate in process improvement initiatives and collaborate on international projects for enhanced underwriting efficiency.

Education

One of the following:

  • Degree in Business/Management disciplines (4 years or equivalent).
  • Degree in Accounting/Finance disciplines (4 years or equivalent).

Work Experience

  • Credit underwriting in asset finance, preferably within agriculture, construction, or off-highway applications.
  • Strong knowledge of financial analysis, accounting principles, and credit risk assessments.
  • Experience in customer service or similar fields.
