About the Role:
Ready to lead a high-impact crew planning function that keeps Aurizon’s Coal network moving? We’re seeking a Crew Planning Leader based in Hexham to guide a talented team and deliver efficient, cost-effective crewing solutions. Reporting to the Tactical Planning Manager, you’ll drive smarter rostering and service planning to support our customers and operations.
The role will be accountable for:
- Provide leadership and management of staff in conjunction with managing the operating budget.
- Accountable for a team which prepares all relevant rosters for crews in the most efficient and cost-effective manner. Ensuring the team comply with appropriate EA and legislative requirements.
- Coordinate daily service planning, including resource allocation and the delivery of logistical support.
- Design and implement effective logistics solutions within rosters to meet customer needs.
- Partner with the Senior Leadership Team to identify opportunities and introduce innovative rostering practices, including job sharing, flexible working arrangements, and initiatives that support diversity and inclusion.

About You:
You’re a proven people leader who has a genuine commitment to an inclusive, high-performance culture. You enjoy coaching and developing capabilities in your people and are comfortable leading a geographically diverse team.
- Ideally you will have applied change management and/or process improvement methodologies.
- High level of skill in strategic planning, tactic formulation and system enhancement within a commercially focussed business environment.
- You are values driven and results focused, with the ability to coordinate resources to meet deadlines.
- High level of interpersonal skills to communicate cross functionally.
- Effective business acumen, strategic thinking and business planning skills.
- Ability to work as an effective member of the leadership team and build relationships for results.
- Ability to analyse data and to recommend decisions that will reach or enhance business objectives.
