Location: Solihull
Salary: £40,000 to £45,000 + Benefits
Job Type: Permanent, Full Time (42.5 hours per week)
The Opportunity
EVEREC is partnering with one of the UK's leading engineering and equipment rental organisations to recruit a Critical Power Engineer for their Birmingham depot.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on electrical engineer to join a growing critical power division, working on a wide range of specialist equipment supporting data centres, utilities, infrastructure, industrial facilities, and other mission-critical environments.
Based in a modern workshop, you'll be responsible for servicing, repairing, testing, and preparing equipment for deployment, ensuring it is safe, reliable, and ready for customer projects. You'll also provide technical support to field engineers and play a key role in maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
If you have experience within power generation, critical power, industrial electrical systems, or energy storage, this role offers ongoing training, career progression, and the opportunity to work with advanced power technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance, servicing, and repairs on critical power equipment.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults using appropriate testing equipment.
- Inspect, test, and prepare equipment prior to dispatch.
- Complete repairs and modifications to ensure equipment meets operational standards.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Carry out functional testing following repairs to ensure equipment is fully operational.
- Complete service reports, job cards, and maintenance documentation accurately.
- Support the preparation and kitting of equipment for customer projects.
- Maintain workshop tools, test equipment, and allocated work areas.
- Provide technical support to Field Service Engineers when required.
- Assist with workshop stock control and sourcing replacement parts.
- Ensure all work complies with company procedures and current Health & Safety legislation.
- Report equipment defects, hazards, and near misses to management.

About You
We're looking for an engineer who enjoys fault finding, takes pride in high-quality workmanship, and thrives in a workshop environment. You will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Workshop Engineer, Depot Engineer, Service Engineer, or Maintenance Engineer.
- Experience working within critical power, power generation, industrial electrical systems, or a similar sector.
- Strong electrical fault-finding experience on three-phase systems.
- Experience maintaining one or more of the following:
- Load Banks
- UPS Systems
- Transformers
- Power Distribution Equipment
- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
- Diesel Generators
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
- Experience using electrical testing equipment including multimeters, clamp meters, and insulation resistance testers.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable
- NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in an Electrical discipline.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- 2391 Testing & Inspection qualification.
- FLT (Forklift Truck) Licence.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety procedures within a workshop environment.
