CRM and Systems Developer
We are seeking an experienced CRM and Systems Developer to lead the ongoing development, maintenance, and improvement of our CiviCRM platform. We are a registered charity and membership organisation dedicated to supporting our members.
CiviCRM is integral to our day-to-day activities, supporting membership management, event registration, communications, reporting, and stakeholder engagement. Currently, we partner with an external supplier for development support and are looking to bring this expertise in-house.
Working closely with the Systems and Operations Manager, you will provide the technical expertise to maintain and enhance our CRM ecosystem, implement system improvements, and support integration with other digital platforms.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CiviCRM specialist seeking a flexible part-time role with significant autonomy and variety.
Key Responsibilities
CiviCRM Development and Administration
- Act as the lead technical administrator and developer for the CiviCRM platform
- Maintain, develop, and optimise CiviCRM to support organisational requirements
- Configure, customise, and extend CiviCRM functionality where required
- Develop and maintain custom workflows, extensions, and integrations
- Manage platform upgrades, security patches, and routine maintenance
- Monitor system performance and resolve technical issues
- Maintain system documentation and technical records
- Create bespoke reports and functionality to align with our strategy, including KPI reports for the Board of Trustees
Membership, Events, and Communications
- Support and enhance membership management processes and workflows
- Maintain and improve event registration, attendance tracking, and payment processes (both online and in-person)
- Manage personalised outputs such as certificates, name badges, invoices, templates, and relevant documents
- Support the configuration and maintenance of Mosaico templates and email communication workflows
- Develop reporting tools and dashboards to support organisational decision-making
- Ensure high standards of data quality and integrity
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement
- Support targeted communication campaigns through data segmentation and automated marketing

Systems Integration
- Work closely with the Systems and Operations Manager to develop and maintain integrations between CiviCRM and:
- Drupal websites (with third-party Drupal developers' support)
- Payment gateways (Stripe, PayPal)
- Finance systems (Xero, Dext)
- Email and communications platforms (Outlook, SparkPost)
- Other third-party services as required
- Support data imports, exports, and synchronisation processes
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement
Technical Advice and Project Delivery
- Collaborate with the Systems and Operations Manager to implement system improvements and digital transformation projects
- Provide technical advice and recommendations on platform capabilities and implementation approaches
- Assist in evaluating new technologies, integrations, and AI-enabled tools
- Support user training and knowledge-sharing efforts
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in administering, developing, and customising CiviCRM
- Strong understanding of CiviCRM architecture, configuration, and extension development
- Experience integrating CiviCRM with Drupal
- Strong PHP and MySQL skills
- Experience with Drupal programming
- Experience working with APIs and third-party integrations
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving technical issues within CRM platforms
- Experience designing reports and maintaining data quality
- Knowledge of web technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Understanding of security best practices and GDPR principles
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
- Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical colleagues

Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience with membership organisations, charities, professional bodies, or associations
- Experience with Mosaico and email marketing workflows
- Experience integrating payment gateways and finance systems
- Experience with cloud-hosted infrastructure and server administration
- Knowledge of AI-enabled tools, workflow automation, or low-code platforms
- Experience using Git and version control systems
- Experience supporting event management systems and processes
