About The Role
The CRM Midweight Designer is a versatile and creative role within the Mosaic team, responsible for contributing to the development and execution of compelling, high-performing communications across various platforms for The Sun, with a focus on CRM and email marketing.
You will work closely with Design Directors, copywriters, and the wider creative team to design campaigns that reach millions of readers. This role requires expertise in design principles, brand guidelines, and responsive email design, with an appreciation for A/B testing and design performance. Keen to leverage WPP Open and Figma, you’ll create seamless, multi-channel experiences.
Key Responsibilities
CRM, Email & Digital Execution
- Develop high-quality, visually engaging designs for:
- Responsive email templates and CRM communications
- Digital ads
- Social media content
- Video assets
- Design email layouts optimised for multiple devices, screen sizes, and email clients, including multimedia elements.
- Ensure designs align with brand guidelines, work across channels, and meet email deliverability standards.
- Assist with asset preparation & hand-off for production-ready deliverables.

Conceptualisation & Ideation
- Contribute creative concepts for CRM campaigns, ensuring alignment with marketing objectives and brand strategy.
- Translate data-driven insights into compelling visual ideas, demonstrating knowledge of The Sun’s audience and engagement triggers.
- Collaborate on A/B testing frameworks by experimenting with visual variations for informed optimisation.
Figma Design Systems & CRM Scaling
- Adopt Figma’s advanced workflows, including auto-layout, components, variables, and plugins, to enhance efficiency.
- Support maintenance and scaling of the CRM Design System, ensuring consistent, accessible design assets in Figma.
WPP Open Integration & Collaboration
- Work cross-functionally to integrate WPP Open capabilities into projects, including:
- Leverage audience data and WPP network insights to inform design decisions.
- Use WPP technology platforms to streamline workflows.
- Share learnings and email best practices with other WPP agencies to elevate the entire network’s output.
Brand Guardianship
- Build expertise in The Sun’s visual identity, tone of voice, and target audiences.
- Maintain a cohesive brand experience across all CRM touchpoints and digital channels.
- Support review and evolution of brand guidelines and visual standards.
Team Collaboration & Communication
- Partner with creatives, strategists, and account/campaign managers to realise creative vision.
- Present ideas with clarity, explaining design rationale and integrating feedback for further iteration. Time Management & Adaptability
- Balance fast-moving deadlines in editorial environments, adapting swiftly to project shifts.

What You'll Need
A strong foundation in:
- Layout, typography, visual hierarchy, and color theory.
- Responsive email/client rendering challenges.
- Passion for design and technology, with a willingness to learn.
- Collaborative communication, thriving in high-paced team settings.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Agency experience, preferably in creative, media, CRM/digital agency settings.
- Portfolio showcasing high-impact digital designs, including responsive emails and CRM templates.
- Proficient in Figma, including auto-layout, components, and design systems.
- Bonus: Adobe After Effects for animated/giving content (e.g. email GIFs/motion).
Desired:
- Hands-on experience with email/CM tools (e.g. Stripo, Salesforce).
- Basic HTML/CSS knowledge for email development and cross-client troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with the WPP Open ecosystem, or keen eagerness to onboard.
