CRM / Dynamics 365 Technical Lead | Permanent | Full time | Home based but with travel to Spire sites and offices across the UK

About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled CRM/Dynamics 365 Technical Lead who can take ownership of our Dynamics 365 platform, elevate engineering standards, and drive improvements across our CRM ecosystem. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong hands-on technical expertise, deep Dynamics product knowledge, and the ability to lead and guide engineers through modern SDLC practices aligned with the Spire SDLC framework.

You will be responsible for shaping the technical direction of our CRM platform, uplifting engineering practices, and mentoring a passionate team to deliver high-quality, scalable, and secure solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Platform Ownership

  • Serve as the technical authority for Dynamics 365 (CE), ensuring best practice configuration, development, customisation, and architecture.
  • Drive continuous improvement of the CRM platform through proactive recommendations, solution design, and optimisation.
  • Own the CRM roadmap from a technical perspective, ensuring alignment with wider engineering and platform strategies.

Engineering Practice & SDLC Excellence

  • Lead the uplift of CRM engineering practices, ensuring alignment with the main Spire SDLC framework.
  • Champion high-quality engineering through code reviews, CI/CD improvements, testing standards, and governance.
  • Establish and enforce engineering best practices, development patterns, and quality gates.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Mentor, support, and guide CRM engineers, encouraging strong engineering culture, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Collaborate with third parties, product owners, platform leads, architects, and stakeholders to deliver business critical CRM capabilities.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure the team is equipped with the right engineering tools and practices.
  • Work with business stakeholders to drive the continuous improvement for CRM platform.
  • Act as the centre of knowledge for CRM platform to lead on the 3rd line support.

Solution Design & Delivery

  • Own and contribute to the design and implementation of Dynamics 365 solutions using Power Platform, Azure integrations, plugins, and custom components.
  • Ensure delivered solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with platform and architectural principles.
  • Partner closely with business analysts and product owners to understand requirements, refine user stories, and translate them into clear technical user stories that guide solution design and development that deliver measurable value.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience with Dynamics 365 CE and Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse).
  • Proven background in CRM solution development, customisation, and integration.
  • Solid understanding of SDLC, DevOps pipelines, branching strategies, code quality standards, and engineering governance.
  • Experience working with onshore and offshore third-party teams.
  • Demonstrable experience leading small engineering teams or acting as a senior developer/technical SME guiding others.
  • Experience working with Azure components such as Functions, Service Bus, Logic Apps, or API Management.
  • Ability to define standards, drive engineering discipline, and uplift technical maturity across a team.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to Have

  • Microsoft certifications (e.g., PL-400, PL-600, MB-600).
  • Experience implementing and operating within enterprise SDLC frameworks to NIST or ISO 27001 standards.
  • Experience with ITIL framework.
  • Experience with SAFe agile practices.
  • Knowledge of Dynamics 365 Marketing, Customer Insights, Customer Service, Sales or Field Service.
  • Exposure to wider.NET development or API integrations.
