CT Rotational Radiographer (Ref: 254052)
Substantive (Development post - Annex 20)
Part Time 28.8 hours per week
Salary Range - Band 5 £34,544 - £43,039 per annum (pro rata) + On-Call
Distant Islands Allowance of £2,578 per annum (pro rata)
Relocation Assistance of up to £8000 available
Progression to Band 6 £43,231 - £52,679 per annum (pro rata) on completion of competencies.
Up to 18 months allocated to complete training
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an HCPC-registered, UK-trained Radiographer to join our busy, friendly, and highly supportive Medical Imaging Department. The successful candidate will undertake development and training to become a key member of our local CT team as part of a rotational radiographer role.
Have you graduated from a UK university and gained valuable clinical placement experience within the NHS? Are you keen to develop your skills across all aspects of General, Theatre and CT imaging, including cardiac and trauma scanning?
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated radiographer who is excited by the prospect of living and working in a remote and rural island community. This is a unique opportunity to develop your career while becoming an integral part of our Medical Imaging Team.

The Medical Imaging Department
The Medical Imaging Department currently has a team of 17 staff, including 10 Radiographers, 3 (4) Sonographers, 1 assistant practitioner, 1 RIS/PACS/Imaging Coordinator and 1 admin assistant.
Our equipment includes:
- Two general DR rooms
- Two DR mobiles
- A Fuji Xair Digital system
- CBCT Dental unit
- A 128 slice GE Revolution Evo CT scanner
- A Philips Blueseal 1.5T MRI scanner
- Two GE ultrasound rooms
We have a local PACS and are fully integrated with the Scottish national PACS.
The Gilbert Bain Hospital
The Gilbert Bain Hospital in Lerwick is an island general/acute hospital serving Shetland’s 22,000 residents plus the offshore oil industry and maritime population. The hospital provides acute/elective general surgical and general medical inpatient and outpatient services in addition to consultant led A&E. More specialist services are provided by visiting consultants and tele-medicine services. There is no resident Radiologist but we have reporting sonographers and reporting radiographers, and work closely with local clinicians providing the usual in/out patient, GP and acute 24-hour service cover with remote Radiologist support.
