About the Role
The EMEA Corporate Communications, Brand & Digital department is responsible for:
- Executive leadership communications
- Employee-wide internal communications
- Brand and reputation management
- Media relations
- MUFG’s digital channels
MUFG is seeking a talented and highly motivated Assistant Vice President, Internal Communications to join our EMEA Corporate Communications team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced communications professional to:
- Help shape employee experience
- Strengthen organisational alignment
- Support leadership visibility across a complex, global financial services environment
Reporting to the Head of Internal Communications, EMEA, you will deliver clear, compelling, and engaging communications that help employees understand MUFG’s regional and global strategy, priorities, and progress. You’ll work closely with senior leaders across the business, HR, Technology, Operations, and global communications colleagues to ensure MUFG’s messages are clear, consistent, and impactful.
The role supports MUFG’s strategic priorities—particularly its Culture agenda—by delivering communications that:
- Deepen organisational alignment
- Enhance employee understanding of regional strategy
- Strengthen leadership visibility across EMEA

You will collaborate with the EMEA Culture Committee, senior leadership, and wider teams to deliver high-impact communications. This includes advising HR and business functions on communications best practices, ensuring alignment with Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) strategies and engagement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Leadership
- Partner with HR, Culture Committee leads, and key stakeholders (with guidance from the Head of Internal Communications, EMEA) to develop and execute a comprehensive, innovative communications programme supporting EMEA Culture initiatives (e.g., Employee Surveys, DEI targets).
- Translate complex business information into clear, engaging narratives for diverse audiences across EMEA.
- Strengthen leadership visibility on Culture topics through planned campaigns, events, and channels.
- Support senior leaders with talking points, internal announcements, and presentation materials.
Content Creation & Delivery
- Create high-quality content for platforms including:
- Email campaigns
- Newsletters
- Intranet
- Videos
- Digital channels
- EMEA-wide town halls
- Major employee updates
- Build engagement by showcasing:
- Culture milestones
- Achievements
- Colleague stories
- Enhance the external MUFG website to promote Culture strategies and Employee Value Proposition (EVP).
Digital & Analytics
- Maintain and enhance MUFG’s intranet and digital content, ensuring:
- Consistent tone of voice
- Strong user experience
- Use analytics and feedback to measure communication effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with front-office, HR, and functional teams for communications advisory and execution.
- Ensure alignment with global communications, brand, and strategic priorities.
- Partner with analysts, media relations, and marketing to amplify impact.
Operations & Execution
- Manage multiple communication projects simultaneously, ensuring timely, high-quality delivery.
- Provide communication advice and best practices to stakeholders at all levels.
- Ensure key dates, deadlines, events, and achievements are effectively communicated.

Requirements
Work Experience
- Significant experience in internal or corporate communications in large, complex organisations (financial or professional services preferred).
- Proven ability to develop communications that drive:
- Clarity
- Organisational alignment
- Employee engagement
- Experience supporting behaviour change and external communications in fast-paced environments.
- Strong relationships across cross-functional teams, including senior leaders, with diplomacy and commercial awareness.
Skills & Expertise
- Exceptional writing, storytelling, and editing skills with an obsessive attention to detail.
- Strategic communicator—balancing high-level vision with execution.
- Relationship builder with energy, creativity, and discipline.
- Comfortable engaging with all organisational levels (C-suite to frontline employees).
- Exceptionally organised, self-motivated, and adept at prioritisation.
- Highly proactive and trusted as a change driver.
- Strong proficiency in:
- MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Copilot
- Advanced project management.
Education Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
