Curriculum Support Assistant - Adult Community Learning

As a Curriculum Support Assistant at Islington Adult Community Learning, you will play a pivotal role in supporting learning, teaching, recruitment, and the general smooth and efficient delivery of this education service. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team that is making a real difference in the community.

What You’ll Do

You’ll support the smooth running of the service and help the team to ensure that learners get the help that they need to succeed. This will include:

  • Administering the service’s pastoral support provision
  • Providing administrative support for tutors and curriculum leaders
  • Assisting with the promotion and marketing of our courses
  • Helping to maintain resources for classes and events
  • Being the first point of contact for enquiries, and the face of the service at various learning centres across the borough
  • Playing an active role in learner enrolment and data entry

What You’ll Bring

You will have experience of providing excellent customer-facing support combined with administrative duties. You will also:

  • Be a proactive member of the team
  • Be able to manage your own workload and meet deadlines
  • Be self-directed when required and be able to take the initiative and solve problems
  • Be an excellent communicator
  • Be able to enter data with a high degree of accuracy and have good IT skills

Ideally, you will also have experience of providing support to adult learners; if you have an IAG qualification, this will be especially welcome.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

We use data to identify and address disparities, ensuring that our policies and practices are transparent and impactful in promoting a diverse representation of backgrounds and perspectives at all levels of the organisation. We look at inequality through an intersectional lens, recognising that different aspects of someone’s identity can combine to create unique experiences of discrimination and disadvantage.

We know that advancing diversity and inclusion is a continuous journey, and we must listen to our colleagues and learn where we can further improve. We work closely with our Colleague Forums and Trade Unions, supported by active allies from our Corporate Management Team, to monitor and evaluate our practices, identify barriers, and empower colleagues to promote equality and inclusion in the workplace.

Every one of us has a role to play in making Islington Council a truly inclusive workplace. By living out our CARE (collaborative, ambitious, resourceful, and empowering) values every day and embedding the principles of equality, equity, diversity, and inclusion in our work, we can all actively contribute to empowering people and creating a more equal Islington.
