About the Role

We are seeking a Curriculum Team Leader (CTL) – Counselling to join our team on a part-time, permanent basis – starting from August 2026.

What You’ll Do

As a Curriculum Team Leader (CTL) – Counselling, your role involves:

  • Working closely with the Curriculum Manager to develop curriculum planning and activities for learner programmes, ensuring innovative and high-quality provision.
  • Acting as the Lead Teaching, Learning and Digital Champion for counselling programmes, collaborating with:
    • The Curriculum Manager
    • Teaching and Learning Champions
    • Counselling Champions
  • Planning, monitoring, managing, and evaluating curriculum delivery, ensuring quality face-to-face and online learning.
  • Leading T-Shaped skills development, staying updated on internal/external curriculum and policy developments.
  • Supporting learner preparation to:
    • Develop employability skills
    • Complete work placements
    • Engage in competitions
    • Access progression opportunities

The role includes a teaching commitment of 20 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct scheduled teaching, tutorials, and learner assessments
  • Manage learner recruitment, welfare, and academic counselling
  • Provide mentorship to colleagues in best practice for teaching, learning, digital learning, and assessment
  • Work with curriculum teams to improve learner retention and achievement
  • Develop and deliver hybrid (face-to-face and online) qualifications to groups and individuals
  • Ensure programme compliance with Guided Learning Hours and Awarding Body standards

Requirements

We are looking for a passionate Counselling specialist with:

Essential Criteria

✅ A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent) ✅ Level 5 qualification in Counselling + practicing Counsellor (E) status ✅ Qualified teacher with CPCAB accreditation ✅ B1 or TAQA verifier award

Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Experience in teaching or training
  • Skills in mentoring individuals/groups
  • Experience in leading and developing provision under quality frameworks
  • Ability to differentiate for mixed-ability learners
  • Proficiency in tracking learner progress using digital tools
  • Strong administrative and organisational abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and learner wellbeing
  • Experience with course reviews, self-assessment, and development planning
