Customer Assistant – Earn £13.30 per Hour

About the Role

At Lidl, our mission from head office to the shop floor is clear: create and deliver a fantastic customer journey for everyone who shops with us. Whether you join as a Customer Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring a seamless, enjoyable experience for our customers.

Minimum age: You must be 18 or over to work in-store due to alcohol sales requirements.


Flexible Hours to Fit Your Life

We understand life is busy, so we offer contracts for 10, 20, 30, or 35 hours per week. With our standard 30-hour contract, you’ll earn £490+ per week (inclusive of unsocial hours). Weekend shifts are an option—work with us to find a schedule that suits your needs.


Shift Patterns

Your role may include any of the following shifts:

  • Morning shift (5am–6am)

    • Stock award-winning products and bakery goods for opening time.
    • Ready stores for customers to enjoy their Go Full Lidl! experience.
  • Middle shift (mid-morning/early afternoon)

    • Ensure stores are spotlessly clean and well-presented.
    • Assist with customer queries on the shop floor.
    • Operate tills to minimise wait times.
  • Late shift (afternoon onwards)

    • Provide top-class customer service at tills.
    • Restock missing items and prepare stores for the next day.

What You’ll Do

As a Customer Assistant, your key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering exceptional customer service—interacting in a pleasant, friendly, and helpful manner.
  • Ensuring stock control—adhering to loss-prevention protocols across the store.
  • Maintaining cleanliness & hygiene—internal and external premises.
  • Managing freshness & rotation of products.
  • Proper waste disposal as part of sustainability efforts.
  • Assisting with stock counts (checks for accuracy and organisation).

What You’ll Need

  • Strong customer service skills with a can-do attitude.
  • Willingness to go above and beyond for customers.
  • Reliability and responsibility—ability to commit to shifts when needed.
  • Enjoyment of fast-paced, varied work in a dynamic retail environment.
  • Team player mindset—collaboratively solving problems as a cohesive unit.
  • Experience in customer-facing roles preferred but not essential—great attitude replaces lack of experience.
