Customer Assistant (Food Section) – Retail
Join Marks & Spencer (M&S) as a Customer Assistant in our Food section, leading the UK’s fastest-growing retailer. We’re not just looking for someone to fill shelves – we need self-motivated, resilient individuals who thrive under pressure, deliver exceptional service, and help shape a groundbreaking new era of retail.
Work Pattern
- Monday: 05:00–09:00
- Wednesday: 05:00–09:00
- Friday: 05:00–09:00
- Saturday: 05:00–09:00

Note: An £3.00 p/h unsocial premium is added for any hours worked between 22:00–06:00.
About the Role
Core Responsibilities
- Become a frontline champion for M&S Food—balancing product knowledge, sales hustle, and customer experience to drive growth.
- Surgically prepare, stock, and present products with precision—ensuring shelves are full, organised, and visually appealing.
- Deliver timed-driven service—every customer deserves attention during the busy rush, and you’ll stay sharp under pressure.
- Sell and recommend products with confidence, turning impulse buyers into loyal customers.
- Serve fast & efficiently—whether assisting a rush of customers, ringing up orders, or resolving queries.
- Drive sales growth through exceptional service, ensuring every visit feels valued.
- Utilise digital tools like the Sparks App and in-store devices to streamline processes and elevate customer experience.
- Adapt to multiple roles—stocking, cashiering, assisting, and managing fast-paced environments.
- A key player in shaping retail innovation—help M&S introduce next-gen solutions and set new standards.
