Work Pattern

The role operates on a fast-paced evening/weekend schedule:

  • Wednesday: 17:00–21:00
  • Thursday: 17:00–21:00
  • Friday: 17:00–21:00
  • Saturday: 17:00–21:00
  • Sunday: 17:00–21:00

About the Role

Join Marks & Spencer (M&S) as a Customer Assistant in the Food section, where you’ll become part of the UK’s fastest-growing retailer. You won’t just be filling shelves—you’ll be an essential frontline colleague who thrives under pressure, delivers exceptional customer service, and champions the brand’s ongoing transformation.

We’re looking for passionate, committed individuals who take pride in M&S Food, are ready to hustle consistently, and can meet strong customer demand head-on. You’ll be the face of the brand—Bringing shoppers the best possible experience through expertise, enthusiasm, and absolute confidence in recommending and selling the newest products.

At M&S, our customers don’t wait. This is a high-pressure role where you’ll need to stay sharp, fast, and customer-focused during peak periods. Pushing beyond the usual expectations, you’ll contribute to driving sales growth across customer service, product recommendation, stock routines, and more.

Responsibilities

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Serving and selling with confidence – Recommend food products, assists customers with their needs, and ensure they leave feeling valued.
  • MaintainingStore standards – Keep customer interaction polished, efficient, and professional at all times.
  • Efficiency under pressure – Manage fast-moving scenarios swap essentials, restock, and assist customers efficiently without compromising quality.
  • Driving sales growth – Embed M&S Food products, creating compelling narratives that convert interest into sales.
  • -operated tasks – Use digital tools like the Sparks App and in-store devices to enhance the shopping journey.
  • Multi-functional flexibility – Rotate across different tasks/départments stations, ensuring smooth operations during hectic periods.
  • Team collaboration – Contribute to a positive, high-energy team culture where patience, adaptability, and peer support are valued.
