Customer Assistant - Food - West Cornwall

Customer Assistant – Jobs at M&S (Food Section)

About the Role

Join Marks & Spencer as a Customer Assistant in our Food section, where you'll be at the frontline of the UK’s fastest-growing retailer. We aim for much more than stocking shelves – we want passionate, resilient colleagues who thrive under pressure, deliver outstanding service at speed, and actively participate in our ongoing transformation process.

As a core brand ambassador, you’ll take ownership of elevating our business by:

  • Confidently recommending and selling our newest food products
  • Delivering exceptional customer service to foster loyalty and repeat visits
  • Utilising our digital tools (Sparks App and in-store devices) to streamline seamless shopping experiences
  • Flexing between high-stakes tasks such as selling, stocking, serving, and driving sales growth
  • Adapting to the dynamic demands of retail with determination—no two shifts will ever repeat themselves.

We need proactive, team-oriented people who stand out in high-pressure situations and treat this role as much more than a job (work as ‘frontline champions’ who make every experience powerful). Being digitally confident isn’t just helpful—it’s essential here.

Key Responsibilities

  • Frontline Service Excellence: Provide top-tier shopper engagement, selling M&S products with passion while ensuring customer satisfaction every day.
  • Food Product Ambarsorship: Build deep knowledge of our latest food launches, pitching them confidently to customers.
  • Digital Tool Proficiency: Master our app (Sparks) and in-store tech to optimise inventory, retail tasks, and customer personalisation.
  • High-Pressure Adaptability: Balance multitasking—helping customers, filling shelves, managing demand—in fast-paced retail environments.
  • Team-Centric Mindset: Foster an energetic, supportive team attitude. Turn challenges into growth and celebrate collective successes.
  • Stellar Growth Focus: Manila a positive impact on store performance through consistent hustle, service innovation, and bespoke customer solutions.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
