Customer Assistant in the Bakery – Hourly Role

Location: M&S Retailer Type: Full-Time (Flexible Week Pattern)

Work Pattern

Week 1

  • Sunday: 08:15 – 17:15
  • Tuesday: 14:30 – 20:30
  • Wednesday: 11:15 – 17:00
  • Thursday: 05:00 – 11:00
  • Friday: 15:30 – 20:30

Week 2

  • Monday: 14:30 – 20:30
  • Tuesday: 10:00 – 16:00
  • Wednesday: 05:00 – 12:00
  • Friday: 15:30 – 20:30
  • Saturday: 09:00 – 17:00

NB: This role includes unsocial hours. + £3.00 p/h premium is added for shifts worked between 22:00–06:00.

In this role, you will be:

  • A hands-on brand ambassador, embodying the M&S quality and energy
  • Hands-up, ready-to-go, delivering hot bread, fast service, and bespoke customer experiences
  • A drive-thru or counter specialist—moving quickly, harmonising speed with safety, and ensuring freshness and availability at all times

✅ 24/7 Freshness: Maintain our bakery’s impeccable quality, keeping shelves fully stocked and customers delighted. ✅ High-Pressure Performance: Work efficiently in fast-moving environments, balancing speed with accuracy – exceeding our five-star benchmark. ✅ Commitment to Food Safety: Follow strict hygiene protocols while working with bakery equipment and fresh produce. ✅ Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with colleagues on the shop floor to achieve goals and uphold our standards – shifting roles flexibly when necessary. ✅ Advocate for M&S: Represent the brand confidently; embrace challenges, deliver with enthusiasm, and beacon the energy that keeps our customers smiling.
