About the Role
At Lidl, we’re not just a retail team—we’re a family of support, ambition, and collaboration. As a Customer Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in keeping our stores running smoothly, ensuring our shop floors and back-of-house areas reflect our high standards day and night.
This isn’t just about stacking shelves. It’s about feeding families, maintaining stock freshness, and setting the tone for exceptional customer service before our doors open. Your efforts make an impact long before the rush of the day begins.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Night work: Precise and independent handling of deliveries, including efficiently unpacking shipments across weekday and weekend shifts (7 days a week).
- Store maintenance: Ensuring access areas remain clear for drivers and staff, and keeping the store spick and span on both floors and back of house.
- Promotions & rotations: Organising and preparing store spaces for seasonal campaigns, promotions, and special offers.
- Freshness & stock adherence: Conducting regular freshness checks and monitoring optimal stock rotation to prevent waste.
- Supporting team culture: Encouraging collaboration and self-motivation to sustain a fast-paced, high-efficiency retail environment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
