Customer Assistant (Operations) – M&S Join our fast-paced, dynamic team in a role that keeps our stores running efficiently
Work Pattern
The schedule follows a varied shift pattern:
- Sunday: 10:00–18:00
- Monday: 12:30–20:30
- Thursday: 12:30–20:30
- Friday: 12:30–20:30
- Saturday: 12:30–20:30
About the Role
This physically demanding, high-intensity role is the backstage powerhouse of Marks & Spencer (M&S) stores. You’ll drive every part of our operational success:
- Essential back-of-house tasks – Stock management, deliveries, and logistics.
- High-stakes coordination – Ensuring shelves stay stocked, areas remain clean, and customers find what they need with minimal delay.
- Dynamic retail environment – Flexibility to adapt to shifting demands across store functions.

Key Responsibilities
- Stock & Delivery Operations
- Handle stock receipt, movement, and placement with speed and precision.
- Assist in efficient ** goods-to-floor transfers**, including lifting and moving heavy items.
- Oversee delivery schedules and ensure products are processed swiftly and safely.

Team Collaboration
- Work closely with colleagues across ** múltiples store functions** (e.g., team leaders, visual merchandisers).
- Provide ** on-the-spot support** during busy periods or peak customer footfall.

Digital & Operational Competence
- Utilise retail systems, POS technology, and stock tracking software daily.
- Monitor and report stock levels, anomalies, and system updates to maintain seamless operations.
Requirements
- Minimum-age restriction: Must be 18+ (health & safety compliance).
- Physical Fitness: Comfortable working in a fast-moving, active environment with prolonged standing, lifting/managing bulk deliveries, and light physical exertion.
- Digital Confidence: Skill in using retail IT tools (e.g. stock management, scanner, device-based frameworks).
- Attitude for Speed & Adaptability: Urgency and accuracy required in stock processing, response to offloading/delivery exceptions.
- Team-Mindedness: Ability to step up collaboratively and support diverse store teams.
