Customer Assistant in Operations – Working Pattern

Weekly Schedule

Week 1

  • Sunday: 14:00–20:00
  • Tuesday: 17:00–23:00
  • Wednesday: 17:00–23:00
  • Friday: 17:00–23:00

Week 2

  • Monday: 17:00–23:00
  • Wednesday: 17:00–23:00
  • Thursday: 17:00–23:00
  • Saturday: 17:00–23:00

Important Notes

  • Pre-Premium Pay applied: +£3.00 p/h for any unsocial hours worked between 22:00–06:00.
  • Age restriction: Under 18s are unable to apply as this role involves operating mechanical equipment due to health and safety regulations.

About the Role

Join Marks & Spencer’s team as a Customer Assistant in Operations and become the backstage powerhouse of our stores. This is a physically demanding, high-intensity role ensuring stock, deliveries, and cleanliness—so our shop floor runs smoothly and customers get a seamless experience.

  • Fast-paced and dynamic—you’ll be the glue that keeps the process urgent yet accurate.
  • Highly adaptable: Regularly transitioning between tasks, including deliveries and stock management.
  • Digital-first approach: Must embrace digital tools for tracking deliveries and stock efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

✔ Stock & Delivery Management

  • Handle stock receipts, deliveries, and distribution with speed and precision.
  • Maintain in-store stock levels, ensuring shelves are always fully stocked.

✔ Behind-the-Scenes Retail Support

  • Work across multiple functions to support store operations.
  • Move products efficiently, keeping the workflow seamless.

✔ Team Collaboration

  • Be a key cog in a large team, playing an active part in maintaining store roles.
  • Offer support to colleagues across the wider store.

✔ Flexibility & Adaptability

  • Adjust quickly to last-minute demands, including shifts in deliveries or stock needs.
  • Required to shift between responsibilities throughout shifts.
