Senior Operational Risk & Controls Data Specialist – Regulatory Intelligence

The Role & Mission

Support CUBE’s Data & Analytics (D&A) team by providing senior expertise in Operational Risk and Risk Controls. This role ensures customer data integrity, quality, and strategic use, develops data standards, implements AI solutions, and drives data-driven initiatives that enhance customer experience at scale.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Matching risks and controls
  • Index building & management
  • Enforcing CUBE’s Data Technical Standards
  • Contributing to business rules shaping our index assets
  • Mentoring junior team members
  • Supporting customer-facing automation initiatives
  • Collaborating with Product, Engineering, and Data Science to optimize data processes

Key Responsibilities

Core Deliverables

  • Actively contribute to crucial revenue goals for the Data & Analytics team.
  • Lead critical customer data operations:
    • Index creation & management
    • Risk/controls matching
    • Governance & conformance checks
  • Advise on data quality, expansion strategies, and standardization projects.
  • Work with regulatory data teams to ensure automation and AI adoption in client-intensive workflows.
  • Develop comprehensive client workflows that align with high-value project execution.

Knowledge & Collaboration

  • Maintain Stream-of-Knowledge continuity on evolving regulatory controls processes for product teams.
  • Collaborate with Regulatively Minded teams & Auditors to comprehensively address uncertainties.

Leadership & Growth

  • Mentor team members, fostering excellence in Operational Risk, Risk Controls, and Data Practises.
  • Bring 3-5 years’ experience in financial services risk/control roles to support rather than manage, ensuring expertise is applied in collaboration.
  • Work within sigmaA’s talent-sharing network, if applicable.

Data & GovernanceMaintain enterprise-wide data architecture integrity, ensuring consistency, traceability, and reliability across customers.
Risk & ComplianceDepth of knowledge in Operational Risk & Controls, particularly NFRM processes (RCSA, incident management, risk registers).
Technical ProficiencyHands-on experience with Python, SQL, Microsoft/Azure Foundry or similar; proficiency in data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI).
InnovationChampion automation, AI integration, and process optimization to drive efficiencies.
CommunicationBridge technical gaps: translate complex concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
Cultural FitAdaptable, insight-driven, and collaborative with a focus on learn-and-fail fast in our innovative environment.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven financial services expertise as a business risk & control expert (e.g., Business Risk & Control Officer, Senior Supervisor).
  • Strong understanding of regulatory challenges, spanning market abuse, system resilience, and fraud compliance.
  • Knowledge of regulatory scrutiny and necessities of batch-facing risk registers/processes.
  • Ability to articulate CUBE’s solution empirically to executive and operational stakeholders.
  • Practically agile in high-pressure environments, managing multiple projects without compromise.
  • Proficient with advanced MS Office, notably Excel (analytical & reporting abilities).
  • Mexperience mentoring subordinates or peers toward practical and career-focused mastery.
