About the Role
This role is about much more than driving—it’s about helping people and delivering great service with a smile. As the face of Tesco on the road, Customer Delivery Drivers meet customers in their homes every day.
It’s hands-on, physical, and full of variety, with no two shifts the same. You’ll work independently for much of the day but have a supportive team of managers and colleagues at base whenever you need them.

- Sunday: 09:00 – 23:00
- Thursday: 18:00 – 23:00
- Friday: 13:00 – 23:00
- Saturday: 13:00 – 23:00
Job Overview
£14.18 – £15.45 per hour (rises to £15.45 within the M25 area, with possible additional payments depending on location).
We guarantee a minimum of 16 hours per week, with some locations offering flexible roles as low as 12 hours.
Responsibilities
You’ll be responsible for:
- Maintaining standards: Keeping your van, trays, and work area clean, tidy, and organised, ensuring every customer receives their shopping in perfect condition.
- Vehicle safety: Loading the van safely and completing all checks to confirm it’s roadworthy, reliable, and ready for great service.
- Customer service: Talking customers through any order changes, substitutions, or short-dated items in a friendly, reassuring way.
- Trade-offs: Offering refunds where needed to keep the experience smooth and positive.
- Quality assurance: Handling products with care, treating each order as if it were your own to maintain customer trust.
- Timely delivery: Delivering within the customer’s time slot, providing warm, natural service at the doorstep and making customers feel valued.

Requirements
To excel in this role, you should:
- Build strong relationships with colleagues to create great team spirit and deliver the best service for customers.
- Be warm and welcoming with customers and colleagues.
- Adapt quickly to changing customer needs and embrace variation while on the road and in the store.
- Hold a valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (full or automatic) for at least 12 months, with no more than 3 penalty points.
