About the Role
Tesco is looking for drivers who share our passion for delivering outstanding service and making a real difference to customers.
As a Customer Delivery Driver, you’ll be at the heart of our service—delivering to homes across the UK, from Land’s End to John o’Groats. This isn’t just a job; it’s about helping people and delivering with a smile. Every shift is unique, and your role goes far beyond driving—it’s about creating lasting positive memories for our customers.
Availability Window
Our flexible roster requires the following availability (unless otherwise agreed):
- Monday–Thursday:
- 09:00 to 19:00
- Friday:
- 08:00 to 18:00
- Saturday:
- 07:00 to 18:00
We’ll schedule your shifts within these hours and offer 3 weeks’ notice before your roster is finalised. If your available hours align mostly with these, we encourage you to apply.
Rate of Pay
- Standard: £14.18/hour (varies based on pool rules)
- (Urban/Inner London): £15.45/hour
- Additional payments may apply depending on store location.
A move from Retail to Delivery may increase your earnings.
Guaranteed Working Hours
We offer:
- A minimum of 16 hours/week to new colleagues.
- Opportunities to work between 12–16 hours, if you prefer.

Delivering Exceptional Service

Basic Delivery Process:
- Ensure your van and trays are clean and organised for each shift.
- Leave the van area clear and tidy, picking up litter.
- Participate in tray washing and equipment maintenance.
- Load the van safely and conduct a roadworthiness check before departure.

Customer Experience:
- Handle order changes, including substitutions, refunds, or issues.
- Communicate clearly with customers about adjustments to avoid extra charges.
- Deliver ceaselessly on-time for your customer’s requested slot.
- Call customers before arrival if early and inform the store of delays exceeding 30 minutes.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Must have a **valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (full or automatic) for at least 12 months.
- License must have no more than 3 penalty points.
- Ability to adhere to Great Britain domestic driving rules.
