About the Role

Our Customer Delivery Drivers are the face of Tesco, delivering across the entire country from Lands’ End to John O’Groats. This isn’t just about driving—it’s about building relationships, assisting customers, and providing exceptional service with a smile.

Availability Window

Minimum guaranteed hours: 16 per week (opportunities for 12 hours minimum also available).

Note: Shifts will be scheduled within these windows, with 3 weeks’ notice. Flexibility is appreciated—if your availability closely aligns with these times, we’d still love to hear from you.

Pay & Flexibility

  • Base rate: £14.18/hour (up to £15.45/hour for stores inside the M25).
  • Additional payments depend on location.
  • Flexible working options available, including discussions around balancing work with home life.

Responsibilities

  • Before Delivery:
    • Ensure your van and trays are clean, organised, and roadworthy.
    • Load deliveries carefully, adhering to customer time slots.
  • During Delivery:
    • Communicate any order changes with customers (e.g., substitutions, refunds).
    • Refresh customers with substitutions claiming no additional charge.
    • Handle customer queries about their orders with warmth and accuracy.
  • Performance & Compliance:
    • Call customers prior to arrival if you’re early.
    • Notify your store/centre if delayed by +30 minutes.
    • Maintain professionalism and cleanliness in the back yard.

Requirements

Professional Competencies

Legal Qualifications

  • Full or Automatic UK/EU/EEA driving licence, held for at least 12 months.
  • No more than 3 penalty points.
  • Ability to adhere to the Great Britain Domestic Driving Rules.
