About the Role
Our Customer Delivery Driver role is more than just a job—it’s about delivering delight, every day. As the face of Tesco on the road, you’ll travel across the UK from Lands’ End to John O’Groats, delivering personalised service with every customer visit. Whether it’s helping customers with substitutions, clearing up rubbish, or keeping your van spotless, your impact extends beyond logistics—it’s about human connection and solutions.
Projecting a warm, professional demeanour, you’ll step into each delivery as the team leader of a very close-knit operation, supported by store managers whenever needed. It’s the perfect role if you thrive in varied, hands-on work with flexible schedules, job security, and opportunities for growth.
Availability Requirements
Delivery shifts adhere to the following weekly availability windows (from/to times):*

*Schedule flexibility is encouraged. We’ll place you within these windows and provide 3 weeks’ notice for your shifts.
Our rates start at £14.18/hour in-store and £15.45 for all-M25 stores. Additional payments may apply based on location.
Guaranteed Hours & Flexibility
- Guaranteed minimum 16 hours weekly at start (part-time from 12 hours available)
- 3 weeks’ notice for shift schedules

Responsibilities
Daily tasks include:
Customer Service & Problem Solving
- Deliver personalised, tailored service by:
- Discussing order modifications (e.g., substitutions, code-entered items)
- Offering courteous refunds for unsatisfied customers
- Fulfilling emergency requests (e.g., re-checking items due to errors)
Van & Workspace Management
- Maintain van cleanliness and route clarity (stacking trays, loading orders)
- Keep the yard tidy and litter-free
- Respond effectively to vehicle checks (e.g., mobility, roadworthiness)
Communication & Customer Care
- Call customers before arrival if you’re early
- Notify stores if running 30+ minutes late
- Relay order updates and refund details clearly and professionally
Requirements
Must Have
- A valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (automatic or manual) with ≥12 months experience and no more than 3 penalty points
- Ability to operate under UK domestic driving rules
Essential Skills
- Warm, professional demeanour for engaging with customers and colleagues
- Adaptability to wholesale/day-to-day developments (e.g., policy changes, customer needs)
- Proactive attitude – exceeding expectations through creativity or team input
- Strong time management and clear communication
No prior experience needed – enthusiasm for frontline support and an eagerness to deliver are key!
