About the Role
As the Tesco on the road, Customer Delivery Drivers make a real difference every day—not just by delivering, but by fostering warm, friendly interactions with customers. This role goes beyond driving; it’s about helping people while delivering outstanding service.
No two days are the same. You’ll work independently, backed by a supportive team at your local base whenever guidance is needed. Whether it’s loading vans, navigating routes, or chatting with customers, flexibility and a can-do attitude are key. £14.18–£15.45 per hour (with pay rises in stores within the M25), plus potential locational bonuses. Roles typically offer a minimum 16 hours per week, though some begin as 12-hour shifts.
Your Responsibilities
Your role ensures every customer receives their shopping with expert care and reliability. Key duties include:
- Keeping the van, trays, and workspace clean, organised, and road-ready.
- Conducting vehicle safety checks to guarantee reliability and readiness.
- Explaining order adjustments, substitutions, or missed items with friendliness and transparency—offering refunds or solutions where needed.
- Handling products with grace and precision, treating every order as if it were your own.
- Adhering to time slots and delivering a warm, professional experience at the customer’s doorstep.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
