Customer Delivery Driver/Picker

Temporary (12 Weeks, Potential to Go Permanent) – Wiltshire Farm Foods Delivery Driver

Role Overview

This is a 12-week temporary role with the potential to become permanent.

  • Hours: 16 per week
  • Flexible schedule: Any 2 out of 6 days, including Saturdays and bank holidays
  • Core working days: Monday (0630–1500) & Friday (0700–1530) The expectation is to cover other days if needed.
  • Location: Part of the apetito group, UK’s largest ready-meal supplier

About the Role

Our drivers are the face of our business and form the Last Mile Solution—delivering prepared meals direct to local people. You will:

  • Deliver high-quality, frozen Wiltshire Farm Foods meals straight to our customers' doors
  • Bring those essential "sunshine on their doorsteps", even in harsh weather
  • Foster exceptional customer service with a personal approach
  • Operate within our coldstore environment (-20°C), with protective clothing, warm-up breaks, and hot drinks provided

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely and safe delivery of frozen meals across scheduled drops
  • Perform order picking and selection in our coldstore with accuracy and fast service
  • Use our internal app to update customer delivery confirmations
  • Provide top-notch customer service—smiling, listening, troubleshooting—everyday
  • Conduct pre-shift van inspections and post-scenario self-checks
  • Drive safely, professionally, and within all laws, while maintaining vehicle cleanliness, fuel levels, and compliance checks
  • Report immediately to office team or Park Manager regarding:
    • Health & safety appliances/component malfunctions
    • Stock quality or quality issues
    • Customer confidentiality requirements
  • Provide substitute sorting assistance within the office and technical team when necessary
  • Assist others in your daily rotation who are on holiday or absence duties
  • Actively participate in local engagement, including:
    • Leaflet door-drop campaigns
    • Outreach visits to sheltered housing sites

Requirements & Qualifications

Essential

  • Valid UK manual driving licence (minimum 2 years’ qualifying history)
  • Full Manual Driving Licence (C category not required)
  • Basic computer literacy (phones, Android apps)
  • Ability to maintain reliable, stable attendance
  • Evidence of strong timekeeping practices -Completion of basic secondary education

Desirable

  • Prior multi-drop delivery experience
  • Customer-focused care-based role or healthcare support background
  • Warehouse experience in order accuracy, speed, and stock rotation

Must-Have Personal Qualities

✅ Reliable and punctual—adherence to scheduled days/time is non-negotiable. ✅ Friendly, approachable, and uplifting—students, parents, the elderly—all customers appreciate kindness! ✅ Passionate to go above and beyond in service provision.


Key Policy Considerations

⚠️ Age-aware environment can be physically demanding—there is a requirement of:

  • Lifting and sorting meals
  • Strenuous conditions (though company clothing and rest pauses ease demands)

This is a role involving elderly and vulnerable adult delivery, thus:

  • DBS checks are mandatory per "Exceptions to Rehabilitation of Offenders".
  • Full recommendations found at UK Ministry of Justice.
  • No sponsorship available under skilled worker routes—this post does not meet criteria.

Mark exceeds the UK Living Wage minimum, + annual bonus scheme, + recognise additional:
