Installation Specialist (Customer Delivery Hub)
About the Role
As one of our Installation Specialists based in one of our Customer Delivery Hubs, you’ll deliver the John Lewis experience directly to customers' doors. Your role involves installing products they cherish—such as furniture, kitchen appliances, sound systems, and TV sets—within a 2-person delivery crew, driving a 7.5-tonne vehicle.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional John Lewis service – Customer service is your top priority.
- Load a 7.5-tonne lorry for the day’s deliveries, working closely with the warehouse team.
- Respect customer homes and handle unplanned situations professionally to provide the best solution.
- Install products efficiently and demonstrate proper usage upon completion.
- Stay updated on new products and technologies for optimal performance.
- Maintain a safe working environment.
Job Attributes: This role involves heavy lifting, including moving items like sofas, white goods, furniture, beds, and mattresses.
Responsibilities
Your daily tasks include:
- Starting at your Customer Delivery Hub before completing route deliveries.
- Being a brand ambassador by delivering outstanding customer service.
- Assisting with loading trucks as part of the warehouse team.
- Exhibiting courtesy and respect in customers’ properties while problem-solving under pressure.
- Operating efficiently while meeting the promise of impeccable John Lewis service.
- Taking responsibility for installing white goods, appliances, electrical setups, or furniture accordingly.
- Handling repairs or domestic electricity installations with appropriate training and caution.

Essential Skills & Experience
- ** Previous installation experience required** (we offer John Lewis installer accreditation training if so needed)
- Valid C1 UK driver’s licence (maximum of 6 penalty points allowed)
- Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC) or DQC in place by the first day
- UK Tachograph Card
- Vehicle experience: Proficiency with 7.5-tonne delivery trucks
- Customer-facing experience (essential)
- Strong verbal communication skills – clarity in both face-to-face and phone interactions
- Sound basic technical understanding of appliances or customer-installed products
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience (or certificated training in):
- Installation of white goods and appliances
- TV setups and sound systems
- Assembly of flat-pack furniture or other heavy goods
