Customer Demand Analyst
Customer Demand Analyst – North Yorkshire, Sofina Foods
About the Role
The Customer Demand Analyst delivers accurate forecasting, strong customer service, and clear communication with customer supply chain teams, ensuring product availability and effective demand management in a food manufacturing environment.
You will act as the primary daily point of contact for retailer supply chain teams and internal business managers, supporting efficient order processing while interpreting customer intelligence to improve short-term sales forecasting and supply chain resilience.
Your Key Responsibilities

Customer Communication & Support
- Proactively communicate shortages, supply risks, and recovery plans to customers
- Act as the first point of escalation for retailer supply chain issues, ensuring prompt resolution of priority requests

Forecasting & Demand Planning
- Review short-term promotional calendars and adjust forecasts accordingly
- Analyse customer intelligence to provide a clear view of short-term sales trends

Logistics & Order Management
- Track and follow up on missed or delayed deliveries with logistics teams
- Support order allocation decisions and maintain detailed service reporting

Inventory & Stock optimisation
- Monitor inventory ageing, shelf-life considerations, and stock rotation to prevent waste
- Ensure products remain daily fresh and in line with retailer requirements

Reporting & KPIs
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports on:
- Service levels (delivery performance)
- Forecast accuracy (30/60/90-day outlooks)
- Customer Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Present findings in Joint Business Planning meetings to drive collaborative decision-making

The Ideal Candidate
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Strong Excel proficiency (mastery of pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis)
- Basic SAP knowledge, particularly in order management, stock visibility, and reporting
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong, transparent relationships with both internal teams and retail supply chain partners
- Exceptional multitasking capability – managing multiple priorities without sacrificing quality
- Professional escalation handling – having the calm, proactive mindset to resolve complex issues
- Analytical approach with high attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in forecasting and reporting
Preferred Experience
- Experience in FMCG, food manufacturing, or supply chain environments
- Familiarity with demand planning tools/forecasting systems
- Understanding of Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) processes and customer collaboration models
- Knowledge of shelf-life management and stock rotation in food production
