Customer Demand & Supply Manager

Customer Demand & Supply Manager

£88,000 to £93,500 plus excellent benefits, including private healthcare and a £6,000 car allowance (Work Level 4)

  • 12-month fixed-term contract
  • On-call for incidents on a rota basis every 8–9 weekends
  • Location: Manchester city centre
  • Hybrid working: 2–3 days in-office (typically Tuesday–Thursday) with UK travel (~twice a month)

About the Role

We’re seeking a Customer Demand & Supply Manager to join Co-op and lead one of our four category supply teams. As part of our Logistics, Supply Chain and Retail Risk function, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Managing category replenishment across sub-categories
  • Ensuring products move efficiently through our supply chain into stores
  • Leading and developing a diverse team to deliver objectives, maximise customer satisfaction, and drive business value

  • Products must be available at the right time, and you’ll play a key role in shaping the supply chain category strategy.
  • Work with commercial teams, retail operations, suppliers, and distribution partners to create an effective end-to-end supply chain.
  • Balance service, availability, and cost using SAP F&R (Forecasting & Replenishment).
  • Focus on:
    • Delivering key performance indicators
    • Identifying continuous improvement opportunities
    • Building collaborative relationships that benefit members, customers, and Co-op.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and develop a diverse supply chain category team (c. 5 direct reports, 30 indirect reports):
    • Ensure they have the skills, guidance, and compliance with legal/regulatory standards
    • Foster a consistent, fair approach
  • Contribute to the supply chain strategic plan
  • Champion product availability and quality to maximise customer satisfaction
  • Build strong relationships with internal/external partners across the business and wider supply chain
  • Manage core and promotional demand effectively
  • Optimise the end-to-end supply chain cost efficiency
  • Identify and implement value-adding opportunities (cost savings, supplier improvements)
  • Embed a continuous improvement culture across your team

What You’ll Bring

We keep requirements minimal but ask for:

  • Experience in a dynamic food supply chain environment
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of financial stock management impact
  • Proven track record in:
    • Leading and developing diverse, high-performing teams
    • Managing change in complex, fast-paced environments
    • Balancing competing priorities with clear solutions
  • Skilled in relationship-building, communication, and influencing at all levels
  • Familiarity with supply chain planning and replenishment systems, ideally SAP F&R
