Customer Development Manager
Customer Development Manager
Jewson, a leading building materials distributor, is on the hunt for a Customer Development Manager who's as passionate about great service as we are.
Location: Luton and surrounding areas
Hours: 7:00am - 16:30pm or 07:30am - 17:00pm Monday to Friday and every other Saturday morning 8am-12pm
Job Purpose
To act as an external sales professional, offering day-to-day sales support for your account portfolio, managing estimates, orders, projects. Acting as the key contact for customers, this role works across the Branch network to ensure orders are managed, while building strong relationships, identifying new opportunities and actively supporting the growth of sales.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow your account portfolio.
- Develop trusted relationships with customers and improve profitability.
- Be proactive, responsive, and visible, including regular site visits and customer check-ins.
- Work closely with branch to ensure customer orders are prioritised, accurate, and aligned to site schedules and specific delivery requirements.
- Support customers with the on-boarding of their new account, ensuring that they start and continue to spend.
- Acquire a thorough understanding of customer needs and requirements, expanding relationships by continuously proposing solutions that meet the customer’s needs.
Experience Required
- Experience within a sales, account management or customer support role.
- Commercial and pricing awareness of margins, rebates, delivery charges, and credit processes.
- Clear and professional communicator across phone, email, and in-person; able to build relationships with customers at all levels, local branches, suppliers and regional support teams.
- Project coordination, prioritisation and multitasking skills.
- Organisational skills with ability to manage your own diary.
- Full UK Driving licence.
- Experience within builders’ merchant, supplier, or construction-related role is desirable.
